Advanced Casing & Tubing Design Course
3-5 Day Course
The intended audience for this course is:
Drilling & Completions Engineers
Workover & Intervention Engineers
Operations & Production Teams
Technical Personnel Involved with Well Design, Pipe & Connection Selection
Personnel Involved with Planning & Executing Well Operations
This 3-5 day course covers the advanced fundamentals and mechanics of downhole tubular design. Material aspects, connection selection, performance properties, load cases, design factors, buckling, and tubing movement are just a few of the many topics that are covered. A special emphasis on horizontal well designs will be included. A half-day session covers the interactive stresses from multiple fracturing events and will consider other relevant failure mechanisms. Participants are encouraged to bring in completion designs from the past and present to use as in-class examples for calculation and discussion.
Viking also conducts Casing & Tubing design training with industry-standard stress analysis software, e.g., STRESSCHECK™, WELLCAT™, and TDAS.
PE Credits: 24-40
Course Outline
Day 1 - Fundamental Design Principles
Introduction to Casing & Tubing Design - Instructor and student introductions are made in order to familiarize the instructor with each participant’s background. A casing design overview is provided and the course outline is discussed.
