Mr. Blank is a Professional Engineer with over 40 years’ experience in the design, manufacture, and installation of surface and subsea completion equipment. Responsibilities include engineering management, project management, risk assessment, budget management, strategic planning, design verification and validation, regulatory compliance, and failure analysis. Prior to joining Viking, Mr. Blank started his career working for major oilfield service companies followed by another 19 years working as a consultant for various operators and engineering firms.
During his career, he has worked with operators, service companies, and regulatory agencies on the development and approval of HPHT equipment. He led a team of engineers and suppliers that developed and installed completion equipment—wellheads, trees, SCSSVs, packers, and BOPs—for a 25,000 psi, 450°F well, guiding the design philosophy for the new technology and the design validation and verification data required to satisfy offshore regulatory requirements, and securing regulatory approval for its use within two years. He has also served as system engineer for the development and delivery of a new 15,000 psi full bore wellhead, establishing integrity assurance activities including design reviews, risk assessments, qualification testing, FAT, and SIT.
