Deodath Mahase, P.E., MBA, PMP, is Facilities & Systems Engineering Manager at Viking Engineering, where he is growing Viking’s facilities, systems engineering, asset management, and operations readiness capabilities in support of brownfield and greenfield capital projects across the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors. He brings more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas, LNG, and marine industries, with roles spanning operators, engineering contractors, and shipyards.
At Viking, he provides operations engineering support to improve production and address asset integrity on operating offshore assets and has supported operations readiness efforts including operating manuals and startup procedures for deepwater production facilities. He has led HAZOPs using Viking’s Stream-Based HAZOP™ approach and conducted failure investigations using the TapRooT® root cause analysis process.
His project leadership experience covers budget, schedule, and execution planning, contracting and equipment procurement, and construction oversight, along with the detail engineering that supports them. He has taken topsides scopes from concept and FEED through detail design, and has managed the transition from project into operation, including fabrication, construction, commissioning, startup, and day-to-day production support. Having worked on both the operator and contractor sides, he is equally comfortable setting project strategy and troubleshooting an asset already in service. He is also an active member of SPE, API and Center for Offshore Safety technical committees.
