Module 1: Designing High Angle, Horizontal, & Extended Reach Wells
3-4 days
This extended reach drilling course equips experienced drilling personnel with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to plan, design, and execute challenging high angle, horizontal, and extended reach wells using industry standard WellPlan software with real life project examples.
The training emphasizes critical risk factors and proven mitigation strategies for stuck pipe prevention, torque and drag management, wellbore stability, and hydraulics optimization from integrated well design, planning, and operational execution perspectives. Participants will gain hands on proficiency in WellPlan software, applying it to model, analyze, and optimize horizontal and extended reach well designs through real world case studies and actual well data sets.
Module 2: Horizontal Drilling, Completions Operations & Thermal Modeling
3 days
This 3-day custom course will cover casing design fundamentals and the practice exercises with StressCheck™ software. A special emphasis on horizontal drilling and completions operations will be included.
Day 1 will focus on casing design fundamentals, principles, performance properties and touch on more advanced design concepts such as thermal modelling and thermal deration of pipe yield.
Day 2 & 3 will focus casing & tubing design guidelines, load cases, pressure profiles, safety factors and using the StressCheck™ software to conduct triaxial casing stress analysis.
Requires the client to have a StressCheck™ License.
