Introduction to Carbon Capture & Sequestration (CCS) Well Design Course

1-3 Day Course

The intended audience is:

  • Drilling & Completions Engineers

  • Operations & Production Teams

  • Technical Personnel Involved with Well Design, Pipe & Connection Selection

  • Personnel Involved with Planning and Executing Well Operations for a Geothermal or Steam Injection Well

With CO₂ injection, CCS wells differ from typical oil and gas wells as they have increasing reservoir pressure over the life of the well, along with increased corrosion and pitting concerns due to CO₂ and impurities in the injection stream.

This training course covers the fundamental principles in casing and tubing design, performance properties, load cases, and design factors. Advanced topics affecting the design of CCS wells such as thermal modeling of CO₂ injection, phase behavior, CO₂ blowout, etc. are also covered.

PE Credits: 8-24
